"I'm really pleased with the Garmin 305. As other reviewers have commented, it sometimes takes a few minutes to locate the satellites but I've found keeping the watch charged up seems to reduce the wait time. The heart rate monitor is a key item in my workouts following heart bypass surgery. The heart rate monitor plus GPS allow me to keep extremely accurate records. I have 4 displays on the face and have no problems reading them as I walk/run. I synch to a MacBook Pro and it's been seamless. Absolutely no regrets on this purchase."

"It just came today, and of course it suddenly became time to go for a run. It's simple, works as advertised, and had no trouble picking up a signal in the urban canyon of Chicago before I hit the lake. Once home, uploading the data to MotionBased.com was quick. And it logs everything, with maps (including export to Google Earth), times, heart rate, etc. All presented in slick digestible graphs and charts. Tres cool. Actually useful. I picked it up so I could train _right_ for the marathon this year. All in all, I'm extremely happy with this gizmo, which I think will provide the birds eye view of a multi-month training plan I've been looking for."

"This is my third Heart Rate Monitor and my first GPS device. It is amazing. It's so much more intuitive and easy-to-use than the previous Polar HR monitors that I have owned. It is worth every penny, in my humble opinion. The web based application provided by Motionbased.com is so thorough, and it literally takes one click to upload your data and less than 15 seconds. Imagine a graph that includes your HR, time, distance, and elevation coupled with a satellite view of your trek, and bunch of other stats to review if you desire. And the Web based application works seamlessly with a MAC. Best of all, HR monitor and clock on the Forerunner are so easy to start and stop. In addition, one can customize the data that is on the screen. So whatever you care to track as you trek, simply configure the device to show you that information. Really it's easy. This thing is the coolest and smoothest application of technology. It makes training fun and informative. The only thing lacking is a countdown timer. But hey, perfection is just around the corner. Thank you Garmin. This product exceeds my expectations."

"I bought this about a month ago and currently have 10 runs with it, including a few 5 milers. I'm not a top of the line runner but I am very interested in making myself a better runner through the information gathered with this device. I have great things to say about this product. It's very comfortable to wear, light on the wrist and the heart rate monitor is hardly noticable. Even my wife will wear this - and she is not into wearing any devices when she works out. I have to think that if I was to wear this for 26 miles though, it might become a little irritating, but then what wouldn't be irritating after 26 miles? The best part is that I don't even have to think about logging my activity. It's very easy to get the data from the device and the information that you get is incredible! If you are looking for a toy to help you train, this is it!"

"I have had this "gizmo" for about a month and am extremely impressed. It worked right out of the box with no problems. I have used it for running and mountain biking and found it extremely easy to use. The wealth of information that it tracks is astounding. I have used a Polar RS200D with a footpod for the last year and got a little frustrated with its inability to correctly track speed on a changing terrain - it's fine for flat surfaces but then has to be recalibrated when the terrain changes. No such problems with the Garmin.

I have used the Forerunner with the MotionBased and TrainingPeaks websites and found it very easy to do so. Both websites require some additional downloaded drivers and/or software in order to work but it was worth the extra effort. The mapping capability of this device when used with Motion Based is absolutely amazing! This "gizmo" blows away my Polar as far as information tracking, usability, and flexibility goes." -
